17 Desires of the Exalted Self
Part of the pathway of ascension is to live our exalted self.
According to the Oxford dictionary, the word “exalted” means a person placed at a high or powerful level; held in high regard; or in a state of extreme happiness. Therefore, to live our exalted self, we need to hold ourselves in high regard so we can exude that state of happiness outward.
I also look at this from the perspective of the hands, since the hands are one of the best ways to understand the self. The archetypes, or personality traits, can be found in the hand shapes that form by the time you are about six years old. These archetypes reveal the ultimate desires of the soul to express through the personality.
Knowing these desires can help you to live your exalted self and grow in your ascension path.
Let’s go over the 16 primary archetypes and their higher perspective desires.
Water archetypes:
These hand shapes will all have long fingers and a rectangular palm. Each individual archetype will have varying strong fingers.
The Dreamer’s desire is possibility, being open to pure potential.
The High Priestess desires inherent wisdom.
The Butterfly desires impermanence.
Justice desires balance.
The element of water is fluid and adaptable.
Fire Archetypes:
The fire archetypes are people with short fingers and a rectangular palm. Fire is expansive and unpredictable.
The Magician desires resources with the ability to choose from them.
The Wheel of Fortune desires abundance.
The Lovers desires union and togetherness.
The Chariot desires action.
Earth Archetypes:
Earth archetypes are people with short fingers and a square palm with typically thick hands. Earth is stable and solid.
The Emperor desires construction, creating something long-lasting.
The Empress desires preservation, the ability to keep things in a state of stability.
The Sun desires radiance and warmth shining on everything.
The Hermit desires wholeness.
Air Archetypes:
The air archetypes are people with long fingers and a square palm. Air is curious and communicative.
Strength desires courage and self dominion.
The Administrator desires life-mastery.
Temperance desires creativity.
The Investigator desires celebration in discovery.
What is the 17th desire?
This is the desire that all archetypes possess, the ability to hold and express love, for love is the glue that holds the light within the body and the substance that the universe is made of.
When love is expressed through the other desires, this is how the exalted self can fully emerge.
For example, when the Wheel of Fortune expresses love through abundance, he is able to share his bounty with the world, overflowing, rather than coming from a place of hoarding.
When the Chariot expresses love through action, she is showing the world the ease of movement and how there is nothing to fear.
The opposite of these desires is also true, if you are not holding and expressing your love for yourself and merging it with the desire of your personal archetype, you are then not able to live your exalted self.
You will be living in a form of not-self, which usually results in some form of unhappiness or unfulfillment. Maybe you still have a lesson to learn or another step is waiting to fall into place.
Remember that the pathway of ascension is not linear.
